It's that time of year again, when the airwaves are filled with Yes on this and No on that. Vote for her. Vote for him.
I actually turned down a spot, once a long time ago, when the copy was so vitriolic and the run so local, that I just couldn't bring myself to do it. After the screaming stopped, I discovered that I was the second voice to turn them down. The spot aired with an amateur at the mic.
But only once. A couple of years ago, I was tapped for a whole string of regional spots -- way out of my own region. As the races heated up, the spots started to get a bit more pointed and, frankly were starting to cross my line. But since they were not in my own market, I pushed the line a bit and went for the money.
Is this selling out? The problem for me is -- that my line seems to be all over the place and varies dramatically from campaign to campaign. In fact, I'm to go into a session today on a state wide spot that is on the opposite side of where I THOUGHT I was going to vote, but ... now I'm not so sure that I AM.
Anyone else have this quandry with the political spots?
